How Krzysztof grew his no-code app to 200 registered users in 3 days
Meet Krzysztof Cichy from Poland.
Krzysztof’s story is a bit different from the usual entrepreneurs featured in Fake Mayo. He works as a sales representative in the B2C sector (not related to tech). Also he didn’t set out to make a big, money-making app or build the next massive startup. It was more of a fun experiment, a way to prove to himself that you don’t need to be a developer to create something cool.

A challenge
I treated my product (experiment) like a game and a challenge. It was just about seeing if I could do it, and if it worked - awesome. If not, no big deal.
So, instead of waiting to “learn to code,” I dove in headfirst. Armed with curiosity, a lot of AI help, and pure chaotic energy, I ended up shipping my first real app - BoomHabits.
What is BoomHabits?
BoomHabits is a playful, minimalist habit tracker that helps you stay consistent, celebrate progress, and not get overwhelmed.
You can track your streaks, earn points, and feel good for showing up. I built it for people who struggle with focus (like me) and want a tool that’s simple, visual, and motivating without feeling like a chore.
Building and launching
I started building the app in March 2025. I didn’t even have a code editor installed. I literally googled “how to build a web app” and "how to use terminal" and went from there.
I used ChatGPT like a co-pilot, and every time I got stuck (which was often), I just kept asking questions until something worked.
I launched three days after starting out. It felt like magic.
I went from zero to “hey, this is online and real” in 24 hours - still with almost zero understanding of half the tech I was touching. Sometimes I joke that I can now call myself a junior developer, even though I’ve never written a single line of code.
The first 100 users
Honestly? 100 users came within the first 2 days of launching. I posted my story on X and Reddit (examples below), and a few directories — but not about the product itself, just telling about my journey.

It resonated with people. I think because it wasn’t polished. It was raw. Just someone saying, “I had no idea what I was doing, but I made this thing and it’s live.”
The first 200 users
Three days after launch, over 200 people registered to try my app. And here’s the crazy part: my product ended up becoming #5 Product of the Day on Fazier.com — and I didn’t even plan a launch! I just found the site on Google and dropped a post. To my surprise, I ended up finishing in 3rd place for Product of the Week.
It was wild to see people connect with my project, especially given how raw and unpolished it was.
Looking back, I think if I had planned my launch properly - picking the right time and day - the results could have been even better. But hey, I’m definitely not complaining. It was a huge win for me!
Just being myself worked
I’m totally bootstrapped. No budget. I shared one honest post about how I built an app without being a dev. I didn’t try to sell the product - I just shared my learning curve, mistakes and all. That post got attention, and that’s what drove signups. Story first, product second.
At first, I tried to “act like a startup.” I wrote a clean, well-designed launch tweet… and nothing happened. But then, I wrote a messy, excited post saying, “I had no clue what I was doing, but I built this anyway,” and - boom. Engagement, upvotes, users. I learned quickly: people connect with people, not pitch decks.
Honestly, I think that’s what people really want to see - the person behind the app and the truth. With today’s tools, anyone can build an app (look at me, I did it with no coding experience!), but what truly matters is being authentic and real. That’s how you stand out and get noticed.
Marketing challenges
My main issue in terms of marketing has been overthinking.
I kept asking myself: “Is this good enough?” “What if real devs laugh at it?” “Should I wait until it’s perfect?”
That mindset nearly stopped me from sharing it at all. But the truth is: people don’t want perfect. They want real stories. I had to unlearn the idea that only polished startups deserve attention.
The current situation
At the moment, the traffic has slowed down a lot. I’m no longer promoting or actively developing the app. That wasn’t really the goal from the start - it was more of a challenge and a way for me to test my abilities.
Web analytics for BoomHabits
Right now, I’m focused on coming up with an idea and developing a real SaaS app that not only provides value but also allows me to dive deeper into the world of vibe coding. I want to create something that will also enable me to generate income as a side project.
That said, I’m really happy with the launch. It opened the door to connecting with a lot of interesting people who are also building apps and share a similar mindset. We chat every day on X, exchanging ideas and supporting each other on our journeys.
